Absorbing, Dazzling and Exhilarating, the Ahmedabad edition of the TCS IT Wiz was witness to all of this and more. The quiz started with a prelim of 20 questions for the 600 plus teams that took part. Quizmaster Pickbrain observed while announcing the names of the finalists that it was truly interesting to see several young teams (from std 8 and 9) doing very well at the quiz.

The finalists were:

Ahmedabad Winners 2008

Ahmedabad Champions, Navrachana Boys.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's, Baroda - Anujnath Purohit & Meet Parikh
St. Kabir, Navrangpura - Parth S Waghela & Savan U Shah
D P S, Ahmedabad - Harsh D Patel & Dhruv Bhatnagar
Navrachana, Vadodara - Purvabh Surana & Pratham Parikh
Amrit Jyoti High School - Aditya M Shah & Saumya S Shah
Maharaja Agrasen Vidyalaya - Nayan Goyal & Rima Rana

The rounds were exciting and fast paced as the teams battled it out. Some of the answers from the teams were truly outstanding as the quiz moved from one round to another. The duo from Navrachana Baroda set out in blazing style cracking not just their direct questions but just about anything that came their way.

At the end of four rounds Navrachana had established a strong lead over the others while there was a huddle with over three teams separated by just 5 to 10 points. Navarachana now started playing safe and guarded their lead with clever tactics while DPS inched ahead of Maharaja Agrasen while BVB Baroda was just behind them. DPS took their chances on the buzzer but it did not quite go their way as they accumulated a few negatives. In the end, Navrachana held on to win the title but there was a tie breaker between DPS and Maharaja Agrasen, the latter winning the same.

The guest of honour, former cricketer Kiran More, applauded the teams on a stupendous performance and urged them to make use of the wonderful times that they are part of. He underlined how they have so much to more to choose from as compared to his days and went on to add that in the many countries he has visited he had found the Indian kids the brightest. He also recalled how at the age of 14 he had got his first job with the Tatas.
