Udayachal's Maiden Win at Mumbai
WINNER: Udayachal High School, Vikhroli: Soumya Ghosh and Jaishankar
RUNNER UP: DAV Public School, New Panvel: Aman Thakur and Ashutosh

It was a day ridden with challenges. Heavy rains all night with roads flowing like rivers. Add to it the last day of the Mount Mary Fair making traffic crawl. These would be very valid reasons for schools, parents and teachers to skip a quiz. That was not to be at Mumbai.

Over 400 children braved the weather and the traffic to reach the venue for their edition of TCS IT Wiz. This was well appreciated by celebrity quizmaster Pickbrain who even thanked the parents and teachers for making it possible for the children to take part.

FINALISTS :
DAV Public School, New Panvel: Aman Thakur and Ashutosh
Udayachal High School, Vikhroli: Soumya Ghosh and Jaishankar
Ryan International, Khargar: Kaustubh P and Adithya N
Sulochanadevi Singhanai, Thane: Bhavya Mehta and Gaurav Kumar
Navy Children School, Colaba: Athang K and Siddharth Nair
Bombay Scottish School, Powai : Adithya Agarwal and Karan Nagdev

As the final began, Pickbrain was swift and the quiz was tense. In the early rounds, most teams went ahead but with a lot of caution. No one wanted to get negatives. As the quiz kept moving one question at a time, the tension mounted as Bombay Scottish, the defending champions started to look good and opened scores with Udayachal establishing a slender lead over the other teams which kept bouncing back.

The duo from Udayachal, still in class 10, played extremely well in the middle phases and towards the end to register an emphatic win. The second place was a very close battle between four schools, and it came down to the final question. A nervous DAV took the risk and got it right to win the runner up title.

The chief guest, Mr. Krishnan Ramanujam, President, TCS, advised the students to “Keep their spark for curiosity and thirst for knowledge as that is going to be the key for the future”. He further spoke of how many of the jobs of today would be obsolete in the future and the focus would be on creativity and innovation.
